TOYOTA 86 FESTIVAL

I personally went to the Toyota 86 Festival and it attracted more than 500 people to the event. It was a great experience, meeting the other fellow Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ owners. There were also quite a few turbocharged and supercharged 86's and BRZ's in the crowd and it really opened my eyes to the vast modification potential of the cars. In all, the event was highly well organised and entertaining. The 86/BRZ chief engineer, Tetsuya Tada, was present at the event and signed my engine fuse box and dashboard cover. He says it will increase the resale value of the car!

ENGINE SWAPS IN THE 86

People have swapped the stock Subaru-made FA20 engine for much higher horsepower engines such as the 2JZ-GTE Toyota-made twin turbo engine. Is it worth it?

TOYOTA 86 BATHURST DEBUT

WATCH REEVES RIP IN DURING THE 40 MINUTE BATHURST RACE DEBUT.................

They're gonna wreck it and make a HYBRID :( !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rumour has it that a petrol-electric hybrid variant of the Toyota 86 sports car is nearing an "advanced" stage, though a productionised version is still far from a certainty.
Unlike that other Toyota hybrid, the Prius, the 86 hybrid is widely expected to utilise a KERS-type system to deliver a momentary boost in power to supplement the internal combustion engine.

However in an interview with British outlet Autocar, Toyota's senior manager of drivetrain engineering Koei Saga said that a multi-mode hybrid set up derived from Toyota's other road cars coud also be adapted to the 86.
Citing the Japanese automaker's experience with the PriusLexus hybrids as well as its Le Mans hybrid race car, Saga told Autocar that engineering a sporty hybrid set up would not be a great challenge for the automaker.
The extra weight of a hybrid's high-voltage battery pack would also be offset by the dynamic benefits of mounting that weight low in the chassis, he said.
But although work is already well underway, don't expect to see a hybrid 86 in your local Toyota showroom any time soon - it has yet to be given the go-ahead by Toyota's management.
Yet Saga is confident that should the nod be given, it won't take long for the technology to transition from prototype to production.

After this, the chief engineer of the GT 86 stated that these rumors were false and the model was still under evaluation. WhatCar has been recently reporting the model as "delayed indefinitely". In the magazine Company Insiders, it has stated that the model is on ice as it isn't in the product range for 2014 or 2015. TOYOTA 86 WILL APPEAR IN SMASH HIT VIDEO GAME 'WATCH DOGS'

It's so exciting that the Toyota 86 will appear in the first blockbuster game of the Playstation 4 Platform!

The Toyota 86 will be used as the main vehicle by the playable protagonist. I think it is due to the car's agile and lightweight nature that marked it as a perfect car for the game.

'Watch Dogs' will be released in Australia on the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 platform on the 21st of November 2013. No release date has been confirmed for the Playstation 4 and Xbox One gaming platforms.
